There isn’t a single “perfect” bowl for beginners—it’s all about finding what resonates with you. If you’re considering Tibetan bowls, we recommend starting with a Jambati No. 7 or No. 8. On the other hand, if you’re drawn to quartz bowls, a medium-sized Frosted Bowl between 10” and 12” inches is a great choice for your first experience. What these recommended bowls have in common is that they are easy to play, produce a balanced tone (neither too high nor too low), and are relatively budget-friendly. Beyond these suggestions, we encourage you to explore the different instruments available on our website and let your senses and emotions guide your choice. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@wonder-bowls.com.
Our Tibetan bowls are made from an alloy commonly known as bell metal, a type of bronze. This alloy makes the bowls both durable and capable of producing long-lasting vibrations after being struck. Tibetan Bowls are entirely handcrafted, hammered by skilled artisan communities in India. This traditional production method ensures that each bowl is unique and one of a kind, with distinctive markings that reflect its forging process. Our crystal bowls are crafted from quartz crystal. Frosted Bowls are initially made using molds, and later fine-tuned manually through a polishing process. Clear and Ultra-Light bowls, on the other hand, are artisanal instruments created using a method similar to glassblowing.
Our Tibetan bowls are handcrafted using traditional hammering methods. They are not tuned to a specific note; rather, the sound of each bowl is revealed once the creation process is complete. Keep in mind that each Tibetan bowl is unique, and therefore, every bowl will have a distinct sound. This means the sound of the bowl you receive may differ from what you hear in our audio or video recordings. If you're looking for bowls tuned to a specific note, we invite you to choose one of our Crystal Singing Bowls.
Industrial bowls are mass-produced using cheap metal alloys (such as aluminum). This results in fragile products with a short sound and low vibrations. Our Tibetan bowls are handcrafted by skilled artisans in India using a high-quality alloy of copper and tin. The tradition and expertise passed down through generations, combined with top-tier materials, ensure that our bowls are beautiful and produce a long, resonant sound. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail.
Our Tibetan bowls are of excellent quality and can last a lifetime. While they can be used with water, we recommend drying them thoroughly after use. Other than that, they don’t require any special care.
